Preamble

The Borealis Class dropship “Pig Dropper” swung in low over the city of Serind, setting down on the landing pad.  The air on Tancredi IV was brisk.  And fresh, even on the city.

As the 4 Mechs slowly stomped out of their deployment pods, Captain Slade negotiated final terms.

“Drive off the attackers.  Cripple or destroy 50% of overall enemy forces.  Find data on location of the Pirate’s operating base.  Got it”.

It was the first time these Pilots had deployed together on an actual combat operation.  The last few months there’d been plenty of training and drilling.  But this was different.

“Okay boys.  We’re setting up South of the city.  It’s all green out there.  Not many hills and trees, but they’ve gotta come through you so set up and make the most of what you’ve got!”

With that, the 4 Mechs set out.

Allied Deployment:

The Players were defending and were required to set up anywhere within 3 hexes of their table edge.  Enemy forces would be moving on in their turn.  The 2 heavier, long range mechs set up near centre, in cover but with good lines of fire, whereas the Vindicator chose an extreme flank.  The Wolverine set up in the middle.  Cos why not…

Game on….

The allied heavies consolidate their sniping nests whilst the Wolverine runs forward.  Their vindicator pokes around the woods, looking to get an upper hand on the Crab that is approaching it.

The enemy Catapult sets up in heavy woods and digs in, while the Centurion and Thunderbolt push forward.

A turn later, and the Thunderbolt comes under an oppressive barrage from the Awesome and Stalker.  It is knocked over by the Awesome…

And the following turn is destroyed utterly by a through-critical onto it’s ammo by the Stalker!

The whole time however, the allied Awesome is pummelled by salvo after salvo of missiles from the enemy Catapult.

The enemy Centurion closes on the Stalker, inflicting enough armour damage to draw its ire.

The enemy crab closes on the Vindicator, with the allied Wolverine redeploying to assist.

The Centurion gets right on top of the Stalker, once again pushing on it;s armour but failing to inflict any serious damage.  In response, the Stalker lets loose with a devastating silo, once again critting onto Ammo and destroying yet another heavy Mech!

At this point the Crab has begun to take serious damage from the 3 Mechs that have been focusing attention on it.  After losing an arm and with it a heavy laser, it decides to make a sprint for it.  The Catapult provides covering fire, Jump Jetting off the battlefield as the Crab sprints to do the same.  Both Mechs and their pilots live to fight another day.

The allied Mechs regroup and round up the 2 enemy pilots that survived ejection from their Mechs.  They are interrogated and reveal both the location of the Pirate base and the full composition of the pirate company.  They are summarily turned over to the Authorities and a likely uncomfortable fate.
